About Life’s Meaning and Purpose
The secret to life is that there is no secret to life. The beauty and meaning of life is found in everyday, ordinary tasks, relationships, and events. God employs every person to care for all other persons and all of creation. In this way, changing diapers is holy work,  picking up trash on the beach is holy work, driving on the 405 safely and patiently is holy work, getting enough sleep is holy work, retirement is holy work. Because God loves us perfectly through Jesus, we don’t have to worry about earning God’s favor. Rather, we are free to care for each other, making certain that every person in the world has enough to eat, is safe, and enjoys healthy personal relationships.

About People
We believe that all people are loved by God. But we also recognize that all people are broken and suffer because all of creation has fallen out of right relationship with God through sin. Sin is what we do that causes harm, and what we fail to do that might reconcile and restore it. Since no one is capable of doing what God fully intends, we get to turn to Jesus who forgives us. The waters of Holy Baptism promise that we get to start over fresh every day, every moment for that matter.  Most amazingly, when God looks at people, God sees earthly saints because Jesus has attached himself to people through faith.

About God
We believe that God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit together make one God who works hard every day to create new things, redeem broken things, and make all things holy. God does not snap his fingers to accomplish his work, however. God partners with and through human beings to make God’s promises come true. God promises the forgiveness of sins and eternal life to all who trust Jesus. Jesus forgives people by speaking to them through other people and through the bread and wine of Holy Communion.
